Strawberry Lemonade
Ingredients:
1 lb. fresh strawberries
1 cup sugar, divided
6 lemons
9 cups water
Directions:
Slice strawberries into a mixing bowl, sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar, and mix well. Set aside on the counter for about 45 minutes to an hour while the sugar works to draw out the juice from the strawberries.
In a small saucepan combine 3/4 cup of sugar with 1 cup of water and bring to boil. Cook just long enough for the sugar to completely dissolve into a sweet syrup, then remove from heat and set aside.
Slice lemons in half and squeeze out the juice into a pitcher. Add the sweet sugar syrup and remaining 8 cups of water to the pitcher.
Take the bowl of strawberries and mash them a little with a fork to help release even more of their juices. Add the strawberries with their juice to the pitcher. You can also add a few thin slices of lemon if you like. Chill and serve.
