Mom's Rhubarb Cake


Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups sugar

3/4 cup shortening

2 eggs

3/4 cup warm water

2 1/2 cups sifted flour

1 1/2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. soda

1 tsp. cinnamon

3 cups finely cut rhubarb


Directions:

Cream together sugar and shortening. Add eggs and warm water. Mix together sifted flour, salt, soda and cinnamon. Add to the creamed mixture. Stir in rhubarb. Put in a greased 11x15-inch pan.

Bake at 350 for about 1 hour.


Frosting: Boil 1 minute: 1 cup brown sugar, 1/3 cup milk, 1/4 cup Crisco and a dash of salt. Cool. Beat until creamy and of spreading consistency. Add a few chopped nuts and spread over cake.
