Mom's Cinnamon Rolls

Directions:

Make up 1/2 a batch of Wheat Bread. Roll thin and paint with melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon, and wheat germ (optional). Raisins and nuts may also be added.   


Caramel Topping: Before placing cinnamon rolls in the pan, layer the bottom of the pan with evaporated milk (just enough to cover), sprinkle sugar on top of milk, and drop slices of butter on top of this. Place cinnamon rolls on top of mixture and bake.


Caramel Rolls: Simmer and stir over moderate heat until sugar dissolves: 1/4 cup butter, 3/4 cup brown sugar, 2 Tbsp. dark corn syrup and 1 Tbsp. water. Pour into 9x13 pan. Put cinnamon rolls on top. Bake at 375 for 25-30 minutes. Loosen from edges immediately and invert, leaving pan in place for one minute. Sprinkle with nuts, if desired.
