Kolaches

The smell of freshly baked Kolaches always bring back memories of my grandma Suing! This is her recipe, passed down through generations!

Ingredients:

6 cups flour

1 stick oleo

2 tsp. salt

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 pkg. yeast

2 cups milk

1/2 cup warm water

Directions:

Mix yeast with 1 tsp. sugar and warm water. Heat milk until bubbles form around edge. Remove from heat. Add sugar, oleo and salt. Beat eggs in large bowl. Add warm milk mixture. Add yeast. Add some flour and mix. Continue until all flour is used. Knead. Fill with cherry pie filling and top with a crumbly mixture of butter, flour and sugar.

You can use pretty much any kind of pie filling in the center. My favorite is actually a strawberry-rhubarb filling. My grandma also used to use a sweet prune filling. But any fruity pie filling works!
