Quick Easy Salsa

The secret to this amazing salsa is in using both fresh and canned ingredients. Making a quick salsa with just fresh ingredients can come out tasting rather bland, but salsa that is made from canned ingredients alone can taste too "store-bought". This recipe is a brilliant combination of both which gives the salsa bursting flavor and perfect texture!

Ingredients:

4 fresh tomatoes

1 onion

3 garlic cloves

3 jalapeno peppers

1/3 cup fresh cilantro

1/4 cup fresh basil

3 Tbsp. lime juice

1 Tbsp. ground cumin

2-3 tsp. sugar

1-1/2 tsp. salt

15 ounce can crushed san marzano tomatoes

4.5 ounce can diced green chiles

Directions:

In a food processor combine fresh tomatoes, onion, garlic, hot peppers, cilantro, lime juice, cumin, sugar, and salt. Pulse until the contents are fine and well blended, but still chunky.Add the canned tomatoes and canned chilies to the food processor and puree until mostly smooth but still having a nice, chunky "salsa" texture.

If you are sensitive to spicy heat you can adjust the recipe by reducing the number of jalapenos. Or, if you prefer your salsa extra hot you can throw in some habanero or serrano chiles as well.
